Keep the Risks of COVID-19 Infection Low in the Clinic

Although several vaccines have already been rolled out to protect COVID-19, the threat posed by the virus is still real. The number of vaccinated individuals is significantly lower at this point than the number of people who are at risk of being infected and transmitting the virus.

Hence, it is not yet time for professionals working in healthcare systems in Cameroon to let their guard down. It’s good that vaccines are here and protecting some people, but complacency is not something to exercise right now.

If you’re manning a clinic, you must continue to practice safety measures to keep your patients safe from COVID-19. Emergency systems response Africa is currently overloaded because of the rising number of cases, as well as cases involving other communicable diseases.

These measures should be practiced not only in your clinic, but in all healthcare systems, Africa has in its jurisdiction. These include:

  • Making disinfectant available upon entry to the clinic
  • Enforcing the use of face masks and face shields by your staff and patients
  • Arranging furniture in a manner that makes social distancing possible
  • Educating patients about the threat of COVID-19 and the need for health and safety measures

Better yet, if it’s possible, you can conduct consultations remotely through telemedicine! It is safer for yourself, and your patients.

COVID-19 continues to be a threat, but by observing these health and safety measures, we can all contribute to slowing down the spread of the virus.
